I believe that happiness is a choice.
When we wake up in the morning, we decide if we are going to go about our day in a positive way or hang on to the negativity of the day before. When my feet touch the ground, I remember that this day is a new day. I have the power to let yesterday go and make today a day filled with happiness and positivity.
It isn’t always easy to choose happiness, everyone has their own set of “stuff”. You know what I mean – the “stuff” that drags us down and makes life seem hard. A job we might not love, a body we are not entirely comfortable in, money woes, toxic relationships, family drama, the list goes on. The thing is, these things might always be a part of our lives – it is how we deal with them that makes the difference in the quality of our day-to-day lives. When we change our attitudes and shift our thinking, life gets so much better. For you and the people around you.
In the last year, my focus has been on living a happier life by putting myself first. As a mother, wife, business woman, friend, and so on. My needs were the last ones being met. I was tired, heavy, and unfulfilled. I challenged myself to make my self-care a priority. Add more joy into my life and choose happiness every day.
A year later, I feel like a different woman. More confident, more centered, and very happy with my life.
The things that I did that seemed to have the greatest impact were usually very simple. Either a shift in my mindset, or just doing something little throughout the day. For the next 31 days I am going to share the things that I did to fill my life with more happiness and joy. I hope that you will join me.
