Oatmeal Scotchie Pie

oatmeal scotchie pie recipe

Sometimes, a lot of times, my most inspired ideas come to me in the shower.  I don't know what it is about the shower that gives me such good ideas.  Maybe it the the quiet, or the warm water, or the sound of trickling water?  Whatever it is, most of the good ideas that I have gotten recently have come to me, late at night, in the shower.  Example:  Oatmeal Scotchie Pie.  I am sure that I am not the first person to make a pie out of this popular cookie, but it was a new idea to me, and … [Read more...]

Peach and Blueberry Galette

peach and blueberry tart recipe

If you are trying to squeeze the last bits out of summer, make a peach pie.  What says summer more than a peach pie?  I saw this peach almond galette in the July issue of Country Living and immediately made it.  The original recipe only uses peaches, but I didn't have enough to fill the pie, so I added blueberries.  What makes this galette special is that there is a layer of almond paste on the bottom.  I love almond anything, so I knew that it would be interesting.  I also like that it is … [Read more...]

Cranberry Lime Tart

cranberry lime tart recipe

I went to a friend's house for Thanksgiving and was asked to bring a dessert.  I was over pumpkin and I was not in the mood for an apple pie.  I called my mom and asked her what she was making and she sent me this recipe.  It is from an old Bon Appetit and it was exactly what I was looking for.  What I love about this tart is that it looks so festive, but it does not taste like everything else that you have been eating.  Have you ever noticed that everything is pumpkin around … [Read more...]
