June was a really good month. The kids finished school, we really felt settled into our new home. We had a good visit with family, spent some time on the beach and have clocked a lot of time out in the sunshine. All in all, I would say that June was a success.
Things are really starting to look up at the Hester house. The spring was hard, we had a lot of stuff going on and so many moving pieces. July has already been so positive and great things are headed our way.
Let’s look back at June, shall we?
Early in the month, I was thrilled to be a part of Bethany and Fabricio’s wedding. I don’t shoot a lot of weddings, but the ones that I do remind me why I love doing it. It’s a long and usually crazy day, but so rewarding when it is said and done. I had so much fun at this one. You can see more of the images on my photography website.
I was driving home from an event I was shooting and double rainbows. How much better does it get? Not much.
Not to mention perfecting our rock skipping skills (it’s all about flat rocks and the wrist) and sunsets like these.
We found a treasure of a book store super close to our house. I love an independent book store.
I took on 2 more photo editing clients that are wonderful. I am really enjoying this new little venture.
I’m not a huge believer in manifestation, but I do find it interesting that on a complete whim I bought this book about London and a few days later my friend asks me out of the blue to spend a few days with her in… you guessed it… LONDON. Maybe I am a believer after all.
I’ve wanted a picture of my kids with the flag for ages. The night that we took these, they were being so bad and uncooperative that I gave up and called it a night. I didn’t even bother to look and see what was on my card. Imagine my surprise when I found these gems. I blew them up BIG and I could not love them anymore than I do.
I made this pie for 4th of July and I’ve been thinking of it ever since. I used the Pioneer Woman’s pie crust (but used all butter, no shortening, and added a little sugar) and this blueberry pie filling. You guys, it was heavenly.
I finally tackled some big home projects. We can’t hang our TV in our base house. Which is what I really wanted to do – I wanted a wall gallery around the TV and to make it huge and amazing and hang a zillion pictures. Instead, this is a good-ish solution. We threw up a couple of shelves from Ikea and I finally had some new photos printed. I used metallic paper which I never do, but up close, they are GORGEOUS.
And from the image at the top you can see that I redid my home office. I am so in love with how it turned out and I will write a separate post for it. Truthfully, I spend a lot of time in here, and I am so much happier and more productive now that it is clean and pretty.
JUNE GOALS //
Update the Bree Hester Photography website – I’ve already gotten a head start on this. I did it before I started writing this post. – DONE. I still need to update some portfolio images, but it’s good to go.
Clean up Baked Bree pages and make updates – DONE
Website maintenance for Baked Bree – there are a few little things that need to be fixed that have been sitting on my to-do list for quite some time. – I was going to hire someone to do this, but guess what? This girl figured it out and was done in less than an hour. It had been on my to-do list for MONTHS.
– Organize my closet – It’s a disaster. I pretty much threw everything in it and called it done. It needs to be organized. I did purge it before we moved though. – Still needs to get done. My office won out this month.
New desk for my office – I got new everything for my office. Yippee!!
JULY GOALS //
– Organize my closet – This still needs to be done but is the last big project for my house.
– The guest room – I need to put the bed skirt on and cute it up a little. Hang some pictures and make it comfy for guests that are coming soon.
– LONDON – this isn’t really a goal per say, but checking off a bucket list item. If you have read my blog for awhile, you know that I am England-obsessed.
– Finish all of my projects for Baked Bree (I’ve been working on the holidays already, I made GINGERBREAD MEN in JULY.) I want to enjoy the last month of summer without and big assignments looming over my head.
