Cocktails and Cheeseboards – Introducing the Drinkworks Home Bar by Keurig Celebrate the end of a crazy week with a cheeseboard and an icy cold cocktail prepared using the Drinkworks Home Bar by Keurig.

Drinkworks Machine in a home bar

Life can be really crazy around here. We have a lot going on between work, kids, and your normal, everyday adulting. You know what I mean. Fun things like paying bills, making sure everyone has their flu shots and clean socks. At the end of the week when everyone has been fed and is happy and healthy, it feels like a major life win and should be celebrated as such.

I like to make a big family brunch at least once a weekend. I make a big spread and then I’m done cooking for the day. After brunch, the kids tend to scatter and do their own thing, leaving Wes and I home to fend for ourselves.

You know a nice way to celebrate the end of a crazy week? A cocktail and a cheeseboard.

There are very few things better than a grazing board (it requires no cooking, just assembling), an icy cold cocktail, and some time catching up on our shows from the week.

I was given a Drinkworks Home Bar to try and I have to be honest, it’s perfect for us. Moving as much as we do, it’s really expensive to stock a bar. We can’t take open bottles with us, so I rarely make mixed drinks because I feel wasteful having to get rid of so many almost full bottles of alcohol.

The Drinkworks Home Bar is an appliance that makes delicious cocktails. Super easy to use and everything you need for a cocktail is right in the pod – mixers, bubbles, even the alcohol. Genius

You add the pod to the Drinkmaker, press the button, the machine calculates the perfect amount of water and carbonation for the specific pod, and drinks come out a few seconds later, icy cold and refreshing.

There are so many pods to choose from too. Some of my favorites – the Moscow Mule, Lemon Bubbly, and the Gin & Tonic. You can even make a British style beer! There are over two dozen drinks to choose from. It’s amazing.

The Drinkworks Home Bar is also really great for when you are entertaining. Instead of stocking a full bar, I usually would make a signature drink when having a party. Now, guests can make whatever they like.

Do you want an Old Fashioned? Help yourself. A Mojito? You got it.

I also love that I don’t have to play bartender, I can mingle and talk to my friends and they enjoy making their own drinks. All I have to do is supply the glasses and ice.

For our at-home, end of week celebrations, I make a cheeseboard for us to have for a late lunch or dinner. I’ve made so many of these, that I don’t really have to think about what to put on them, but I do have opinions about what makes a well-balanced cheese board.

How To Assemble a Cheeseboard

Making a beautiful and inviting cheeseboard isn’t hard, you just have to remember one important word – balance.

Start with three kinds of cheese // Three is a lot for two people, but you can have the cheesemonger slice them into small portions – I like something sharp like a cheddar, something creamy like a brie, and something a little out there, usually whatever is recommended at the cheese counter, but my husband LOVES blue, so a blue typically makes an appearance.

Add crackers and bread // There is nothing more aggravating then ordering a cheese plate in a restaurant and not getting enough crackers for it. I like to use a mixture of water crackers, sliced baguette, and fruit and nut crisps.

Add fresh elements // Sliced apples, grapes, figs, peaches, berries, whatever is in season will brighten up your board.

Add crunch // We need some texture to go on our board. This can come in the way of nuts, crunchy vegetables like radishes, peppers, green beans.

Sweet and salty // I think that the perfect bite includes a lot of different notes. Think a piece of baguette with a smear of brie, a spoonful of blueberry jam, some salty nuts, and a sprinkle of fresh thyme. I always include sweet things like dried fruits and jams along with very savory things like olives and pickles.

Raid your fridge and pantry // A cheeseboard is a great way to use up the bits and bobs you have hanging around. Feel free to add some sliced meats, potato chips, chocolate, anything that might go nicely on a cheeseboard. There is no right or wrong way to make one, just whatever your taste buds enjoy.

Now that you have a perfectly crafted cocktail in one hand and a plate of cheese in the other, it’s time to say goodbye to the chaos of last week and welcome a new one.
