It is Valentine’s Eve and I have had some of the most epic kitchen fails of my life today. Let’s just say they involve burnt popcorn, exploding mixers, and strawberry puree on my ceiling. I am going to call it a night, and hope that tomorrow is a better cooking experience. I wanted to wish you a very Happy Valentine’s Day, and leave you with a very simple, fail-proof (God willing) recipe. I made these for my son’s class for his birthday (thank goodness he asked for something other than a cupcake, it was nice to make something easy for a change) and the 2nd grade class asked me to make them for an upcoming class party. The highest compliment from a group of 8 year olds.
3 Tablespoons butter
1 (10.5-ounce) bag mini marshmallows
1 (12-ounce) box Golden Grahams
1 (12-ounce) bag milk chocolate chips
Crush the Golden Grahams. I like to have a good mix of rubble and bigger pieces.
Melt the butter in a large pot. Add the marshmallow and cook until they melt completely. You could also do this in the microwave, but I don’t have one.
Mix in the Golden Grahams. Coat completely with the marshmallow.
Pour the mixture into a 9×13 pan coated with cooking spray. You can sprinkle in some of the chips now, but they start to melt. I like my chips to stay whole, so I add them later.
I spray a piece of wax paper or parchment with a little cooking spray and press it into the pan.
Sprinkle with milk chocolate chips.
Let cool completely. Cut into squares.

I don’t even remember the last time I saw golden grahams in the grocery store! I’ll need to look harder. These look delicious – much more exciting than rice-krispie squares.
I buy them a lot, my kids love them as a snack.

My kids love Golden Grahams, we have them all the time.
I make a version of these, too. I put white choc chips in mine and also add PB to the Fluff…pretty much as much gooey factor as possible. Yours hold together better than mine do
They look great!

Yum. That sounds delicious. The pressing helps hold them together.
Have you tried freezing the chocolate chips then adding them to the mix? Its what I do when I make rice crispy treats to keep the M&Ms from melting.
No, but that is a great idea.

It was so ugly. I was making marshmallows and shot gelatin and corn syrup all over my kitchen. Not once, but twice. Then I blew strawberry puree onto the ceiling a few hours later. Not good.
I just realized how much I missed the S’mores Bars my Aunt used to make for us until I stumbled upon this post of yours. Talk about sweet nostalgia! Thanks for this recipe.
How cute is that?
My college cafeteria makes this exactly as you show it here… but it’s always stale! I’m sure your S’Mores Bars are delicious!
Really? A stale S’mores bar would not be worth eating.
Not at all worth eating!
What a creative and tasty recipe! These would be such a fun treat!

So sorry about the kitchen mishaps! I attempted 3 recipes this weekend but failed miserably thanks to having no sense of smell or taste because I’m sick, I completely understand! But for every failed recipe there are lessons learned and tasty clean ups that come from it. Hope you’re having a great weekend! =]

They do! And these are so good.
I make these by melting the chocolate with some corn syrup and stirring in the marshmellow. The are a hit at bake sales. I put them in cupcake holders for easy bake sale items.
