Have you ever made something and thought that it was going to be good, but then you took a bite and it blew you away? This is that recipe. I love sweet and savory and this bread is just sweet enough and just savory enough. It is delicious. I love it lightly toasted with some rich Irish butter. Good butter is worth the splurge. Is there anything better than bread and butter? Nope. I didn’t think so. It is also the perfect accompaniment to a warm bowl of soup.
I could eat soup every day of my life. I love it, unfortunately, my family doesn’t feel the same way. When we lived on Cape Cod, we ate out a lot. The kids had practice or games all over Massachusetts and we spent a lot of time in the car. We would stop somewhere and grab something for dinner. We didn’t eat fast food, but fast casual. That concept doesn’t exist here in Germany and along with Target and Michaels, I really miss it. I cook dinner every night and most of the time it’s great, but in a pinch I wish that we had something like it. We are still pretty busy with sports and activities, but we eat dinner at home every night. All this to say, that soup is a great thing to make when you are busy and need to still eat dinner. I usually make it early in the day and keep it on the stove until I need to serve it. Add some crusty bread, a good roll, or this apple cheddar pecan bread and it is a perfect busy night meal.
