Happy Friday: Volume 11

I’m sitting in my office and snow has been falling all afternoon. We don’t get a lot of snow here, it makes me so happy to watch the snow fall. We have a really good sledding hill right outside our door, the boys have been sledding and I love when they come in and have rosy cheeks. It makes me very excited to get back to New England.

Wes had a very last minute trip to the states, so I’ve been in single mom mode. Single parenting is no joke, I have so much respect for parents that do this all the time. We have a pretty 50/50 household so when he isn’t around, my household responsibilities double. My kids are helpful, but they have a lot of stuff going on too. I am glad that he will be back this weekend.

I had a bad baking week. I try to make a few things at a time so I can work in batches. (Posts take a really long time to put together, I am trying to be more efficient.) I made three things in one day and all of them were terrible. Not inedible, but definitely not worth sharing. I gave it a day and started over and they all worked perfectly. Isn’t it weird how that happens?

We didn’t leave the house all last weekend other than to go to Will’s basketball game. We watched Derry Girls on Netflix. It’s hilarious, but I needed to turn on close captioning. We also watched The Heat, I forgot how funny that movie is. The Bachelor also started. It’s garbage but William and I love it. And the recaps are a highlight of my week.

I’m going to make the boys some hot chocolate for the boys, they are on their way in from sledding and look like they could use one.

Have a great weekend!

I make over 100k and I’m still broke.

Bloggers, it’s a great time to update your media kit. Here are some great tips.

Mean girls that turn into mean women. I wish this wasn’t true, it is.

One more reason we are dying to get a dog. Accio!

This is genius for getting your little to brush for the right amount of time. There is no guarantee they won’t just chew on their toothbrush, but it’s a start.

On my travel bucket list. A guide for first-timers.

I guess I must be pretty healthy then.

“When you travel, and you get to know people, you realize we are living in a global society, that we’re all together in this and that we’re all facing some of the same problems. Traveling knocks down these barriers of fear and prejudice. That’s what makes travel fascinating.” I could not agree more. I could not agree more.

I couldn’t love this any more. Time to move to this neighborhood.

We all need to get this word out of our vocabulary. The other day I read a post from someone complaining about having to watch what they say these and how sensitive people are about it. Why would you insult and marginalize someone on purpose? It’s not okay, and it’s not someone being sensitive, it’s you being rude and in a lot of cases, cruel.

An interesting take on Internet church. I have a complicated relationship with church these days, but one thing that I really liked about going was having to sit and be quiet for an hour surrounded by people.

My BFF told me that my fridge reminds her on Sleeping with the Enemy, but it makes me feel like all is right in the world.

We need more stories like this one.

I love the talent and inspiration on this list every year.

I finished this podcast and it was so good. Unlike a lot of true crime podcasts, this one has resolution. And made me question if I ever want to do 23 & Me.

Best skincare of 2018.

I can’t find jackfruit anywhere near me, if I could, I make these tonight.

I’d also sub out the pork for jackfruit in this recipe. I wanted to lick my screen.
