Happy Friday: Volume 20

Chocolate Sheet Cake with Whipped Caramel Ganache

Happy Friday: Volume 20 // Chocolate Sheet Cake with Whipped Caramel Ganache from The Boy Who Bakes, The Bachelorette with Knox and Jamie, and Mother’s Day.

Happy Friday and Happy Mother’s Day!

I made this cake before my kitchen was packed up and it was so good that I need to share it with you. Chocolate Sheet Cake with Whipped Caramel Ganache is from The Boy Who Bakes and you should grab the recipe and make it this weekend.

I’m not really proud to admit this, but I am really excited about The Bachelorette starting on Monday. It isn’t really because I love the dumpster-fire that is the Bachelor franchise, it is because I love the recaps from Knox and Jamie so very much. I’ve written about the joy they bring me before, but they really come hard for the Bachelor and I’m here for it. I laugh out loud listening to them twice a week and they have brought so much happiness and laughter. I also am a much better consumer of pop culture now too. I don’t watch as much garbage as I used to. And when I do, I can explain it away and make it sound like it was a reasonable choice.

Wes has been hanging in the Arctic Circle this week. I’m so mad at myself that I didn’t send him with a camera. The pictures he has been sending are making me so jealous. It is such a gorgeous place. Really cold, but so incredibly beautiful. He comes home for a day and takes off again.

I spent four days sitting behind my laptop fixing my 660+ recipe cards. When I changed my website, I didn’t realize that the plugin I used isn’t compatible. If you tried to print a recipe lately, it might have caused you some frustration and I’m so sorry about that. I’ve been putting off updating the images and descriptions in my older cards and I just decided to rip the Band-aid off and get it done. It took me what feels like a lifetime, but it’s done. And then I took two days off to recover.

This blog is almost 10 years old, and let me just say – I’ve come a long way. My word, it is painful to see some (all) of the old pictures from when I first started. Yikes! I had no idea what I was doing or what focus was. It’s real bad. But, you can actually see where I started to figure it out. It’s amazing to see the progress I’ve made. So the moral of the story is – keep going. You’re going to make a ton of really not great work, but if you keep creating, it gets better. And then you will get to a point when you aren’t mortified to see your work on Pinterest anymore. It’s a good feeling.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there. I’m a lucky girl to have so many loving and supportive and inspiring mothers in my life. And thank you to my babies for making me a mom. You guys are the best thing that ever happened to me and I love being your mom so much.
