Happy Friday: Volume 27

Happy Friday: Volume 27 // Going to a workshop in Arizona, getting a head start on my holiday baking, and why solo travel is so good for me.

Happy Friday!

I’m headed to Arizona today to go to a workshop and I am very excited for a change of scenery. I’ve never been to that part of the country and I can’t wait to explore.

I’m going by myself and scheduled to stay a few extra days. If I am flying all the way across the country, I should make it worth my while. Some people think that it’s weird that I like to travel alone, but I really enjoy my own company.

I’m a person that needs time to recharge and that usually happens in quiet. I booked an Airbnb and am having a personal work retreat. I have so much to catch up on and I really am productive away from the distractions of my home.

I usually am super ready to come home and miss everyone when its time to come home. It’s good for all of us, the kids need to be reminded sometimes that mom is not a mythical fairy that takes care of all of the things, but an actual human creature that needs a teensy bit of appreciation from time to time.

In other news, Halloween is over and now we begin my favorite season – Thanksgiving season. When we lived in Germany, we skipped Thanksgiving. We went away, so we haven’t had a traditional Thanksgiving experience in a few years. We are celebrating in one of my favorite ways, we are having a potluck with some other Coast Guard families.

When you don’t live near family, you have to create your own, and those holidays are some of the most special we have ever celebrated.

I spent the week baking and creating content for the holiday season. You have no idea how much butter and sugar I had to clean off my camera! The images in this post are a sneak peek of what’s coming up this month. 🙂

I’m off to finish packing, have a great weekend!

Why I stopped getting drunk. I really like this movement where people are drinking less.

What to wear for family photos.

PSA – Don’t be a jerk to strangers.

These are the most patient people on the planet. I made some decorated sugar cookies over the weekend and got bored halfway through.
