White Dream Ice Cream – Homemade vanilla ice cream, marshmallows, and white chocolate chips is a vanilla lovers ice cream dream.
Many years ago, I worked in an ice cream shop that made all of its ice creams. White Dream was one of our signature flavors. It is a vanilla base with white chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. I am not sure the exact recipe, but this is close. I use my Vanilla Bean Ice Cream as a base for all of my flavors, and it makes such a smooth, creamy, and rich base. I love it. I cannot wait to make some raspberry and peach when we settle down and get into our new house.
I am typing this post from Denver, Colorado. We have had a wonderful trip so far. Today we spent the day with good friends and toured the Coors Brewery. Tomorrow, we are going to make a big push and get to our final destination in Kansas. We will not be in a house for a while, but it will be nice to stay in the same place for a few days. We have gotten really good at packing and unpacking the car. We have had a great trip, but we are getting really tired. So far, we have been to Salt Lake City, Cheyenne, Estes Park, Golden, and Denver. The kids get medals for how good they have been. They have been troupers. I am off to bed, I’ll see you in Kansas.
White Dream Ice Cream Ingredients //
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
- pinch salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 vanilla bean, scraped and seeded (or 2 teaspoons vanilla)
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
How to Make // The Steps
Step 1: Whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, salt, and vanilla bean in a large saucepan.
Step 2: Gradually add the milk and cream. Cook the mixture over medium to medium-high heat for about 10 to 15 minutes or until the mixture comes to a bubble. It will have thickened and be like a loose pudding.
Step 3: In another bowl, whisk the egg yolk and vanilla extract if you are using it.
Step 4: Very, very slowly pour the cream mixture over the egg yolk. Whisk well.
Step 5: Pour the mixture through a sieve or a strainer. Cover and chill the mixture for 8 hours or overnight.
Step 6: Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker. Freeze according to the machine’s instructions. Add the marshmallows and white chocolate chips a few minutes before the ice cream is finished.
Step 7: Pour the ice cream into a container and continue to freeze in the freezer.
Step 8: Scoop the ice cream into cones or a bowl.
Here is a tip for making cones for kids: Put a marshmallow into the bottom of the cone. It will help prevent the ice cream from dripping out the bottom.
