Slow Cooker Baked Beans

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz smoked bacon uncooked
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 red onions finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 15 oz can of white beans
  • 1 15 oz can butter beans
  • 1 15 oz can of kidney beans
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp molasses
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 sprigs of fresh thyme leaves picked
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Heat a nonstick pan to medium-high and drizzle in the olive oil, then dice up the bacon. Add it in and fry for 8 to 10 minutes until crispy.
  • Take the bacon out. Add the diced onions and garlic and sauté for 5 to 8 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • In the bowl of your slow cooker, toss in your drained beans, bacon, onion, garlic, ketchup, molasses, tomato paste, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, fresh thyme leaves, salt and pepper.
  • Mix everything together. Cover with a lid, and cook for four to five hours on low.
