- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar sifted
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips melted and cooled
Beat 1 cup of softened unsalted butter using an electric mixer on medium speed for about 1-2 minutes (aim for a creamy consistency).
Gradually add 4 cups of sifted powdered sugar and 3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder to the butter, beating on low speed until fully incorporated.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/3 cup of heavy cream, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until smooth and well combined.
Take your 1/2 cup of melted and cooled chocolate chips and fold into the frosting until consistent throughout.
If the frosting is too thick, add a tablespoon more of heavy cream at a time. If it's too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.
