Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  • For the frosting: Beat butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, beating until creamy.
