Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional toppings: lettuce tomato slices, onion slices, pickles

Instructions
 

  • Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roll each into a ball.

  • Preheat a griddle or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Place a ball of beef on the hot griddle. Cover with parchment paper and press down firmly with a heavy spatula to flatten into a thin patty.

  • Season the patty with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned.
