This Almond Flour Mug Cake is a delicate, delicious, and quick dessert that makes tasty sweet treats easy!

Sometimes, I don’t want to bake a whole big cake that I then feel pressured to finish before it gets stale or bad. The perfect solution? A small cake baked in a mug, perfect for individual-size portions! This is a great dessert to make easily and quickly, and it’s got the bonus of utilizing almond flour, which has a delicate and delicious texture I’m a big fan of, personally speaking.

The first time I started looking into using almond flour was when I realized I couldn’t use flour with gluten due to health reasons and had to look into how to make cakes without it. While I love my usual flour substitutes and gluten-free flours, almond flour is a personal favorite. It adds an extra layer of flavor and makes delicious cakes accessible to me once more!

This recipe is great because it’s fast. Sometimes, making a whole meal and also a dessert just isn’t something I’m up to doing for a dinner, though obviously everyone loves to have a nice, warm dessert. So, this recipe comes to the rescue because not only is it awesome, but it’s quick to cook, and you can make exactly how many servings you want in exactly how many mugs you need.

Flour power

Almond flour is perhaps the most unique ingredient to work with in this particular recipe. It’s an ingredient that can sometimes lead to denser baked goods, but always with a lightly nutty flavor. It can be almost a little chewy compared to traditional wheat flour, depending on how it’s used. Because of this, it’s really a great choice for cake batter!

How do I store leftovers?

Almond flour mug cake isn’t really one to keep in your fridge or freezer, since it is an individual portion intended to be quickly made and eaten on the spot. So enjoy it while it’s fresh and whip up some more the next time you’re craving it.

Serving suggestions

The best complement for any cake is, of course, Sweetened Whipped Cream! If you’d like a little extra flavor, try Coconut Whipped Cream or Chocolate Whipped Cream. You can also add a Chocolate Ganache Frosting or a delicious scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream.
