Brown Sugar Ice Cream

brown sugar ice cream recipeI am sort of obsessed with my new ice cream maker. I love how easy it is to take a few simple ingredients and 30 minutes later it is ice cream. I am starting with simple flavors and making my way to the more complex. I made this ice cream to go along with my Cherry Buckle. I like how the brown sugar gives the ice cream a hint of caramel and just a bit of complexity. I have been asked a few times about the ice cream maker that I use and I wrote about it in my Cookies and Cream post.

Sweets for the sweeties. I’ve just started making home made ice cream with a White Mountain hand crank machine and the kids think it’s awesome. If you don’t make your own ice cream you should give it a try. Here’s an interesting article I found that might be helpful to folks thinking about making their own.

    Hi Bree,
I just got the exact ice cream maker that you use yesterday. And I just tasted my first spoonful of homemade vanilla ice cream. I think I’m in for a never ending obsession as well.

I also wanted to tell you that I love your blog. Your photography, your recipes, and your writing. It’s perfect.

I made this ice cream for Thanksgiving and it was a HUGE hit! It turned out beautifully, and everyone couldn’t get over how delicious it was, myself included. I did tweak the recipe a little (I didn’t have vanilla beans, so I just added a little more extract, I added a pinch of salt, and also a teaspoon of bourbon), but even if I wouldn’t have done these things the ice cream still would have been amazing! Thank you for such a terrific recipe.
