Buffalo Blue Cheese Dip

When you live outside of your home country for a period of time, you really appreciate the little things, like our holidays. Thanksgiving and the 4th are very strange when you are in a country that does not celebrate these holidays. Why would they? They are quintessentially American holidays. This year, we will be celebrating on base. I am not sure what that will entail. But I can bet that it will include a grill, some kids on bikes, fireworks, and new friends.

My husband’s favorite food is buffalo wings. If there is something “buffalo” style on a menu, you can bet that is what he will order. I, on the other hand, do not really like wings. I like the flavor combination of hot sauce and blue cheese, but I really do not like to eat greasy wings. This dip is the perfect way for me to get the flavor that I love without having to take a shower after eating it. This dip is so easy, you can make it a couple of days before you want to serve it, it only gets better.

1/2 cup flat leaf parsley
1/4 cup green onions
1/2 cup sour cream
2 Tablespoons white wine vinegar
1 clove garlic
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese

To serve:

celery
carrot sticks
chicken strips

Buffalo Blue Cheese Dip

Yield: 1 1/2 cups

Buffalo Blue Cheese Dip - serve with chicken strips, carrots, and celery for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup flat leaf parsley
  • 1/4 cup green onions
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 Tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese

To serve:

  • celery
  • carrot sticks
  • chicken strip

Instructions

  1. Put everything except for the blue cheese in the bowl of a food processor.
  2. Process until it comes together.
  3. Add the blue cheese and pulse a few times to incorporate.
  4. Transfer to a bowl and chill for a few hours.
  5. Serve with peeled carrots, sliced celery, chicken tenders, and some extra hot sauce. I bought these chicken tenders at the store, but they are easy to make, and to make healthier.

    Yum! Love all things buffalo, but not such a huge fan of wings either. I make buffalo chicken dip every chance I get (when I have plenty of other people around to help eat it!). Have a great 4th here in KS Bree!
