The perfect movie night snack awaits.

Popcorn and movies go hand in hand perfectly, it’s a combo that’s been around as long as the silver screen itself. I enjoy regular popcorn, it is fine, but this kicked up chocolate peanut butter popcorn is sure to take movie night snacks to a whole other level. That doesn’t mean it is only for movie night, no, it is also a great after dinner treat or stand alone party appetizer. This recipe is the perfect house warming gift or holiday treat, add it to the sweets table on holidays and watch it disappear like magic.

I love how this chocolate peanut butter popcorn satisfies both my sweet and salty craving, it really is popcorn perfection. Plus it is a laughably simple dish to make, with only three ingredients. It’s rich and creamy, crunchy and salty, and the delicious bits of dark chocolate make this popcorn simple yet super satisfying. No matter the occasion this treat will be sure to please guest of all ages.

Ingredients for Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn: popcorn kernels, dark chocolate chips, and creamy peanut butter.

Popcorn, get your popcorn

Chocolate peanut butter popcorn, the name itself says it all, literally telling you about all the tantalizing taste that awaits you. A little savory, a little sweet and just the right amount of deliciousness, you will be hooked after your first handful. You don’t have to take my word for it though, make it once and your guests will ask for it by name for the next gathering. Low in carbs and high in fiber, this delicious treat is actually pretty healthy. You have popcorn, a whole grain which may help to reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Healthy fat from the peanut butter, and antioxidants from the dark chocolate. All in all this popcorn dish is a wonderful guilt free snack.

How to Make Ahead and Store?

Prepare the recipe as directed, then let the chocolate and peanut butter cool and solidified, about 20-30 minutes. Next break up your Chocolate peanut butter popcorn then I recommend storing it in a tin popcorn container, or any clean tin container where it can last up to two months. You can store the popcorn in an airtight container but it will only last a few days to maybe a week before it gets stale. Never store your popcorn in a plastic bag, this will make it soggy and nobody likes soggy popcorn.

Serving Suggestions

Just because this chocolate peanut butter popcorn seems perfect already, it doesn’t mean you can’t make it even better. Mix in a few crushed up candy canes after adding the chocolate and peanut butter and you have all the flavors of the holidays in a bowl. Try swapping out the dark chocolate for white chocolate or even butterscotch chips. A handful of cut up Reese’s peanut butter cups added in is a pure delight, or better yet you can buy the adorable little Reese’s peanut butter cup minis. On that note you can cut up and add in any one of your favorite candies, or go fancy with a nice dark chocolate like Ghirardelli’s. Do some experimenting and create your own ne favorite mix.
