Whipped Buttercream Frosting

Once you try this fluffy whipped buttercream frosting, you won’t stop putting it on all your favourite desserts.

Whipped Buttercream Frosting

Just like many people, I am very particular about my frosting. I don’t like when frosting tastes too artificial or sugary. That is why whipped buttercream is my absolute favourite! Whipped buttercream is the perfect topping for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and even brownies. This whipped buttercream typically has a pale, ivory colour but you can always add food colouring to match any theme or style of your event.

This buttercream is exactly that, creamy! It comes out in a light, fluffy texture and is easy to pipe. It is not too sweet, which is just what I like, making it pair perfectly with your sweet dessert of choice. The use of salted butter creates an extra special dimension to the flavour. This recipe involves more heavy whipping cream and extra whipping time, unlike other traditional recipes. The extra cream makes for the perfect texture and frosting anyone can use. Another twist to this recipe is the use of granulated sugar instead of powdered sugar. However, this does not make it gritty, it just adds to the sweetness without overwhelming you.

As mentioned, this recipe is a favourite because of the taste. Most people complain about frosting being too sweet, but the small changes in this recipe have people raving over it, some even claim it’s the “best frosting ever”. It tastes decadent and delicious, without being over the top sweet. The vanilla extract adds the perfect dash of flavour to this creamy frosting.

This frosting is loved by so many because it pairs well with other desserts. Because it does not have an overwhelming flavour, it can be put on many different sweets. I love adding this buttercream to flavourful cupcakes, specifically ones with fruit like berries, raspberries, or strawberries. The frosting is surprisingly delicious on cookies as well!

Use Salted Butter for This Buttercream

It is so important to use salted butter when making this frosting. This is different from many desserts and frostings, so make sure you have the proper ingredients before starting. The addition of salted butter is one of the special tricks to getting the flavour of this frosting just right.

This buttercream recipe is easy to make with minimal ingredients. But don’t let that fool you, it is just as flavourful. Because vanilla extract is the focus of your flavour here, it is important to use the best. Using a high-quality, pure vanilla extract will make this frosting to die for. Make sure you are using the ingredients as directed to get the best results.

Step 3: Pour in the vanilla extract and 3 tablespoons of heavy cream. Whip on medium-high speed for about 3 more minutes, until the frosting is light and has a cloud-like texture. Don’t forget to stop the mixer and scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula a couple of times.

Step 4: Check the consistency of your frosting. If it’s too thick, add more heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition. If it’s too thin, you can add a little more sifted icing sugar until it thickens up.
