Add to that slow cooker and even the tougher cuts will melt like butter. I usually use sirloin, chuck roast, and round steak and leave the thicker or deluxe cuts for the summer grill!

Top Tips For a Perfect Cube Steak
- Using a meat mallet to tenderize the meat is crucial. Don’t have a meat mallet? You can put the meat between two pieces of wax paper and get an arm workout with a skillet.
- I also like marinating the meat in buttermilk or a vinegar-based marinade before putting it in the slow cooker. That usually gets you a unbelievably tender meat!
- Make sure to keep the slow cooker low and let it sit for around 6 hours to achieve that perfect break-apart meat.
- If you find your gravy too thin for your liking, in a small bowl add one tablespoon of cornstarch and one tablespoon of water and mix. Add small amounts to the slow cooker until you reach the desired consistency.
